ADRL Dragpalooza in Houston

The hottest drag racing series this side of the NHRA's Full Throttle racing series kicked its season off in Houston again this year. ADRL Qualifying started on Friday and Saturday's eliminations kicked off the '09 season with a bang.

The ADRL created a new class this year called Extreme Pro Stock. This class is similar to the IHRA's mountain motored Pro Stock class.

"The debut of the Extreme Pro Stock class in National Guard ADRL competition concluded with a final round battle between two long time friends and rivals, Brian Gahm and Doug Kirk. Gahm entered eliminations as low qualifier with a 4.105 second elapsed time at 176.51 miles per hour. Kirk had qualified third with a 4.119 second effort". (ADRL.us)

Houstons own Todd Moyer snagged the 5 grand from Flowmaster for being the first Extreme 10.5 driver to run over 185. Thats in the 1/8th folks

Billy Glidden continues to dominate the popular Extreme 10.5 class as the Whitland, Indiana native came back down to H-town to show these boys how its done.

For the whole story click on the title of this post and it will take you to the offical website for the ADRL racing series.

Tune in this Sunday for a special interview with Erica Ortiz

There is nothing hotter than a female race car driver. Well according to Doug and Blue that is. From the Thunder Road Shows conception these guys said they wanted to highlight "Driving Divas" as often as they could. With past guests like Erica Enders and Kristin Bumbera as friends of the show it was only appropriate to contact Erica Oritiz of Fun Ford Weekend (now Battle of the Brands) fame. Just like Ms. Enders and Ms. Bumbera, Erica Ortiz is making waves of her own in the racing comunity. Erica has been mid sixes in the 1/4 with her twin turbo Thunderbird and is currently building a new "Pro-mod" car. Erica also has her own Youtube channel called Horsepower and Heels which keeps her fans updated on future plans and upcoming events. Be sure to tune in this Sunday at 11am to hear the interview with Erica.

Outlaw 10.5 Legend Cory Wheat was in studio last Sunday

If you have ever listened to the Thunder Road Show on 1560 The Game. then you know Doug and Blue love racing. These two don't discriminate against make, model, color or what kind of auto racing they cover.

Doug admits to being of the "drag racing" persuasion and Blue gets his "clues" in go fast and turn left circles. Most shows are a mix of NASCAR updates along with some "straight line" talk.

This past Sunday followed suit as they had Cory Wheat (local Outlaw 10.5 racer) and his tuner "Big" Billy Stocklin in studio.

Cory and Billy discussed the history of this exciting class and talked about the upcoming race season. Cory and Billy plan on running the full "Battle of the Brands" series which is the former "Fun Ford" racing series.

Cory and Billy's interview is up on podcast so just click on the box that says podcast on the right hand side of this page to hear it in full.

Our first remote broadcast in the "books"

February 15, 2009 marks a new date in motorsports history. Not because Matt Kenseth took his #17 Dewalt Tools Ford Fusion to winners circle at the 51st running of the Daytona 500. Not even because Dale Earnhardt jr. couldn't find his pit box all day and then got into a scuffle with Brian Vickers and took out 1/3 of the field with 75 laps to go. No this special day in motorsports history is because the Thunder Road Show, "The Best Damn Motorsports Show Ever", had it's first remote broadcast. That's right 1560 The Game's only motorsports related show was on the road at Jake's Philly Steaks in Houston.

Doug and Blue would like to thank everyone who came out to Jake's including Kristin Bumbera ,pictured above, and Erica Enders. We also had sponsors of the Thunder Road Show there like Circle D Specialties, Allout Off Road, Brian Reese of Nationwide Ins. and Amy Vera of Dr. Robertson's office. The Texas Warehouse donated a very nice Texas star wall decoration. Bullfrog Spa's of Houston gave us some cool stuff to give away as did all of our sponsors. We had a packed house and Jake's said we are welcome back. Thanks everyone for coming out.

A "picture" is worth a thousand words!!!!

With "Speed Week" winding down at Daytona the anticipation grows with the Sprint Cup race just hours away. The All American Race will be just as exciting the previous 51 races have been. All the drivers seen rejuvenated after an off season with no testing and are ready to duke it out in the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing called the Daytona 500.

We have seen great performances all week and man were we ready to hear D.W. say boogety boogety boogety as annoying as that is.

There is so much to talk about that you just have to listen to our 2 hour Daytona special live from Jake's Philly on Sunday the 15Th to hear all the news from Florida in what is expected to be a great 2009 NASCAR season.

Blue and I are at Jake's live from 11am to 1pm Sunday. You can hear it on www.1560.tv also
