Thunder Rd. Show had Kimberly the Game Girl in studio talking race Karts

Sunday on the Thunder Road Show Rob, Blue and Doug were graced with the presence of 1560 excellence (Kimberly Gonzolas) in studio with us. 1560 loves our Game Girls and what they do for the station. Kimberly works at a local Kart racing facility near Katy, Doug's home town, and was in studio promoting the track and filling everyone in on how much fun Kart racing is.

Kimberly's 9 year old sister competes in cart racing alongside men and women from the age of 5 to 75 so don't get this confused with junkie "go-cart" tracks were you pay $15 for 20 minutes of so called fun. The fastest cars are capable of 90 mph top speeds and 5g lateral force in the turns. The guys discussed how some of these Karts are quicker to 60mph than most "super cars" available to the general public.

Doug and Blue are currently planning to get more involved with Gulf Coast Karter for a palooza with giveaway's, and an afternoon at the track. Can you say "who wants to win the chance to drive a 100 horsepower rocket on wheels"?

Here is the website for Kimberly's place of business where you can take the whole family for a great day of racing and good brisket or bbq.

Thunder Rd. Show @ Houston Raceway Park 09/27/08

The Thunder Road Show was invited out to the ASCS Sprint car race's at Houston Raceway Park last Saturday night and we couldn't have asked for better time or better weather. Doug Johnson and guest's arrived at the track early on Saturday night in time to see the entire event and walk through the pits with "pit passes" that were courtesy of HRP.

There were multiple classes running Saturday night but the two classes with the most cars were the "crate late models" and the actual "sprint" cars with the big wings on top.

Jason Johnson from the Dallas area racing the number 11 car sponsored by "The Shop" which is based out of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area also. Here is a link to ASCS's driver profile page for Jason (http://www.ascsracing.com/ascsdriverdetail.asp?id=53) Jason came out and pwned the rest of the field on how to drive on the dirt.

Update Update Update

First of all, we would like to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of those effected by hurricane Ike. We hope that as time goes by things get back to normal (as much as that is possible) for each of you.

WE ARE BACK ON THE AIR!
Ike may have knocked us down, but we bounced back last weekend. We even had the "task master" Kyle in the house, twisting knobs and doing his thing.

Todd Simpson was also nice enough to come on the show and do an interview for us. It was great having him on! Thanks Todd.

DD Update:
Incase you missed it, our Double D of the week was Kristin Bumbera.

Her website is http://www.kristinbumbera.com/

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
This Saturday, we are having our second Palooza. This one is at Houston Raceway Park for the sprint car races. Congrats to those who won tickets last weekend on the show. Even if you didn't win tickets, come out and join us for some good racing and good talk about racing.

Rob Cole from Simpson Racing is back in studio for a second week in a row, and we couldn't be happier. However, this week we'll have a bit of a twist. We've invited Steve Sustich from Risi Competizione.

Risi Competizione is based in Houston, Texas and located at the Ferrari of Houston dealership. The race team has its own Race Shop and storage for the team transporters as well as access to the mechanical and operational assets of Ferrari of Houston From this base, the Doyle-Risi 333SP won the World Sports Car Championship in 1998 in its first year of competition.
